WHAT IS A SAFE-HUB?
Oliver Kahn is committed to empowering young people and promotes equal opportunity through the Oliver Kahn Foundation.
At Safe-Hub Berlin, children and adolescents are given the chance to shape their lives independently and autonomously - regardless of their background.
Through various sports and educational programs, boys and girls are supported in their personal development, helping them discover and cultivate their individual strengths for a successful start in life.
Where Sports meets Education
Our facility features high-quality artificial turf pitches, where we deliver our EduFootball program to promote fair play and social skills.
The planned building will provide 24/7 access to educational, leisure, and counseling services.
In collaboration with local partners, this space will serve schools, athletic clubs, and holistic growth.
With a new sports hall planned by the district of Berlin-Mitte, our programs will soon expand to provide year-round, weather-independent support.
The Sports Field
On the pitch, we bring the EduFootball program to life, focusing on cultivating fair play and essential social skills.
The Education Centre
Our education center features a Digital Lab,
a movement room, a youth café, as well as office and counseling spaces.
We provide a bridge into the professional world through expert support, programs for acquiring career-relevant qualifications, and accredited vocational training.
The "EduFootball" education program is the heart of the Safe-Hub. Through age-appropriate games and sports activities, it imparts a joy for life as well as positive behaviors.
In innovative after-school programs, football, training, social skills development, tutoring, and mentoring are combined.
The program begins with children aged five to ten, who are introduced to learning through play.
Participants aged eleven to sixteen develop social skills and values through football, while young people aged 17 and older acquire knowledge and skills that facilitate their entry into the professional world and foster personal development.
Since 2017, sports-pedagogical educational programs have been offered to young people in the Berlin-Wedding district. Through school clubs, open football pitch activities, and a dedicated project for young women, we already reach 12,000 children and teenagers across Germany today.
We offer a diverse, low-threshold, and innovative range of activities for children and youth. Through sports, they can stay active and sharpen their social skills, while a variety of individual support programs are available in the afternoons. Furthermore, our specialized training program teaches young people essential values such as respect, team spirit, and tolerance.
Our GIRLS HUB project empowers a team of talented young women in Berlin through education, athletics, and personal growth. We aim to dismantle the complex societal barriers that limit girls' participation in sports. By fostering a community of strong female role models, we create a ripple effect of positive change within their local surroundings.
Our Train-the-Trainer program, established in 2017, empowers football coaches through workshops focused on self-reflection and conflict resolution. By combining theoretical role-playing with practical tools, we help coaches foster both the athletic and personal growth of their players. In partnership with several regional German football associations, we have already reached nearly 1,000 participants through our licensed training modules.
PlayMaker is a flagship Safe-Hub initiative that prepares young people for the workforce. Targeting the 16–24 age group, the program focuses on personal and professional growth through hands-on experience. By assisting in weekly EduFootball sessions, participants develop their unique strengths in a real-world setting. This nine-month journey not only builds career foundations through sport but also empowers young adults to become impactful leaders within their communities.
